I’ve got a secret. And it’s a good one. Don’t tell my 4 adult children this, but about half of the gifts in their Christmas stockings come from thrift and consignment. Not the candy, of course. At least not yet. LOL. And why is this? It’s because consignment and thrift stores are GREAT resources for stocking suffers. Just consider…
Thrift Your Stocking Stuffers with New-In-The-Package Items
Consignment shops, like Consignments Ltd., have a plethora of items that are new-in-the-package and make great stocking stuffers. For kids, these shops have things like: small toys and puzzles, socks with the tags still on, ornaments and arts and crafts items. For adults you can thrift new jewelry, kitchen gadgets, candles, games and toys, scarves and again, socks.
Vintage Items Make Great Stocking Stuffers From Thrift
My daughter, Charlotte, collects vintage cameras. If I score an inexpensive one for her collection, you got it, it goes in her stocking. My son, Benjamin’s girlfriend is from Kentucky. This year I found a vintage, collector plate from the great Commonwealth of Kentucky. Brooklyn will get it in her stocking. (Please don’t tell her I told you. LOL). All types of vintage items, anything that piques your receiver’s interest, can be a stocking stuffer. Just use your imagination, because you know your people. But, in case you’re stuck, here’s a list of some of the items I’ve put in stockings in the past few years to get you started.
- Vintage Cuff Links and Tie Tacks
- Brass Candlesticks
- Designer Scarves
- Mercury Glass Christmas Ornaments
- Vintage Handbags
- Antique Silver Napkin Rings
- Even Small Oil Paintings
