The only constant in interior design is change. Trends swing forward and back and are created and eliminated over time. Interior design trends in 2025 are no different. Owning a home consignment store gives me a window into these trends, sometimes even before they’re out there officially recognized by mainstream interior design houses. Perhaps it’s because creative people and designers tend to shop consignment and thrift looking for unique items to set their homes and projects apart. So I was pleased to read recently that two interior design trends that we been noticing for quite awhile now are now being acknowledged as 2025 design trends. Just consider…

Tops in Interior Design Trends in 2025: Coziness
According to real estate giant, Zillow, coziness is hot in 2025. In the past, home listings used “cozy” as cover to describe homes that were on the small side. But not this year. In 2025, coziness is a sought-after attribute in homes of all sizes. Warm, natural colors like green, brown and red are popping up all over interior design, from fabrics to paint colors. The interest in a cozy home may be due, in part, to all the folks working from home and spending more time at home. At Consignments Ltd. we’ve noticed an uptick in sales of naturally-colored items, from soft, brown throws to green, vintage pottery.

Nostalgia is Also Big in 2025
My customers are creating plate walls again. This stylized art installation was a thing back in the day and it’s definitely coming around again. Additionally, people are decorating with antiques again. Yay! We are even seeing a lot more floral going out the door. Also blue and white is back! And sconces, that haven’t been a hot in forever are showing up everywhere. And we can’t keep bone china cup and saucers in the store. Maybe it’s a sign of the crazy world we live in that people are waxing nostalgic for things of the past? As a retailer of old things, I must say I couldn’t be happier about this interior design trend.
