The other day there was a slight chill in the air and I could feel it coming: Fall in New England. It’s around the corner. And I can’t wait to decorate for it. In my humble opinion, the best place to buy Fall decor is thrift and consignment shops.

Best place to Buy Fall Decor Like Pumpkins and Gourds
Even if you’re not a fan of orange, which I am not, you can find a rainbow of pumpkins and gourds at consignment and thrift shops. Whether you’re into a coastal look for your Fall accessories or going super-scary look with metallic and black you’re sure to find some great deals. And the best part is that faux pumpkins and gourds can be used from year-to-year, and all the way through Thanksgiving, unlike their natural brethren.

Grab Some Vintage Table Linens
Much like we discussed in my blog about setting a summer table with vintage finds, Fall is a great time to grab tablecloths and place mats in all the earth-tone shades. Or better yet, look for some of these in kitschy, retro patterns. Can’t find table coverings that you love? Check the shops stock of cloth napkins. Sometimes just adding napkins in an earthy shade will be the thing your setting needs to make it feel like Autumn.

Glassware in Every Shade You Can Imagine
Nothing sparks up your Fall table like colored glassware. Look for water glasses in amber or wine glasses with plum stems. You might even find appetizer plates in green glass that will stun when layered atop simple white plates. Other glass items that are good to look for are tinted bowls. Yes, you can use them to serve food in, but also consider a Fall-tone bowl filled with those gourds you just put in your carriage. Yatzhee!

Let’s Not Forget The Outdoors
I don’t know about you, but I love changing out the decor on my front porch with each season. Thrift and consignment shops are the perfect places to find a new, seasonal wreath or maybe an old chair where you can place a cache pot full of mums? A vintage wagon would look great loaded up with pumpkins. Or perhaps an old milk can that you can fill with some corn stalks? The ideas are only limited by your creativity.
No matter how you slice it, you’re going to Fall for Autumn decor at thrift and consignment. (Sorry, couldn’t resist that one.) You can’t beat the prices and because their inventory is unique, your home won’t look like anyone else’s on the block. Now that’s a win-win you can fall for. (Sorry, that was twice, wasn’t it? LOL).
