Do you remember where you were on September 11, 2001? I was on my way to meet my friend, Jill, for lunch, with baby Charlotte in the car. The news came over the car radio. I didn’t really process what was happening until I connected with Jill. We spent the next couple of hours huddled around a television in a nearby shop, in stunned silence. Today, on this September 11th Anniversary, I am remembering that day. I am also thinking of the visit that Bruce and I made to the September 11th Memorial and Museum a few months ago – again, stunned silence. If you have not been to the Memorial, and you get the chance to… GO! It’s is a powerful, moving experience. I can barely put into words. It’s something that every American should see.

The 21st September 11th Anniversary…

Today, it is hard to believe that it has already been 21 years since that day when we were rocked to our core. On this 21st anniversary, I will take some time to reflect… to be still… maybe even to cry. Back in 2002, on the first anniversary of September 11th, my son Joe, who was 10 at the time, wanted to do something concrete. We planted a “September 11th Tree” in our yard. When we moved the next year, and couldn’t obviously, take the tree with us, we planted a new one. It felt right, both times. So today, I challenge you to do something positive to remember this September 11th Anniversary… visit a friend… take a walk in the woods… sit by the sea… write a letter or an email to an old friend.. plant a tree. And never, ever forget…

Godspeed, My Friends. Marianne
