The Holidays Are Coming, My Friends!

They’re coming… and some of them are staying overnight. Do NOT panic! It will be fine. You can do this. With a little retail and a little consignment/thrift you can get your guest room ready for company. Your family/friends will think it’s a little piece of heaven with a few quick changes. If you don’t like your guests, however, stop reading now.

Refresh Your Bedding and Get Your Guest Room Ready For Company
One of the quickest ways to get your guest room ready for company is to refresh your bedding. Although good linens are pricey, this does not have to cost you an arm and a leg. Look for comforters, bedspreads and blankets at your local consignment or thrift shop. Launder them or have them professionally dry-cleaned and you’re half-way there. Stores like Consignments Ltd. tend to have a great supply of these items. Then splurge on new, quality sheets and memory foam pillows. Sheets are always best bought new and buying higher quality means they will last, wash after wash. Memory foam pillows (which can not be washed, by-the-way) are supportive and comfortable like no other bed pillows. Your guests will love this new sleeping environment so much they won’t want to leave. (There are other ways to get them to go, however, so if you need some suggestions just email me, LOL).

New Towels Are A Great Way To Get Your Guest Room Ready For Company
Did you ever notice how hotel towels are always white? Well there are two words that explain the reason: heat and bleach. White towels can be sanitized in hot water and with bleach. Amen! So why not provide white towels for your guests to use (even if your personal towels are another fun color). People associate white towels with freshness and cleanliness. It’s a subtle message that your guests will appreciate. And you’ll appreciate it too when they are easy to clean. Buy a good quality towel and they’ll hold up for years.

Upgrade Access To Technology For Your Guests
We have a little, framed sign in our guest room with the name of the house Wi-Fi and the password. It makes it easy for our guests to hop on and surf whilst relaxing in our guest room. We also bought ceramic, bedside lamps recently that have charging ports in their bases. It makes it a heck of a lot easier for guests to charge their devices. And it’s definitely better than having them crawl under the bed to access the plug! You can grab the ones we have at Amazon through the link provided. But also check your local consignment store for these types of lamps. Although they are relatively new technology-wise, people change their colors and their minds, so you never know.

Get Out The Goodies – Guest Will Love It!
And speaking of consignment and thrift stores, the next time you’re at your favorite second-hand spot, grab an adorable basket or other cute container for guest room goodies. Fill it with sample-size shampoos and lotions, bottles of water, snacks and magazines. Load it with anything that would make your stay more memorable if you were at some swanky hotel, like The Ritz. It’s a little, inexpensive touch that not only gets your guest room ready for company but will have you winning the guest room Olympics.
