According to Southern Living magazine, not only is wallpaper back, but it’s back in a big, bold way. Southern Living says that there’s, “…no better way than using bold wallpaper to bring personality and unique character to a room.” I wholeheartedly agree. So if you’re into exploring this trend, you may be wondering where and how to use this bold statement? Just consider that bold wallpaper can make a comeback in your home in the following ways…
Let Wallpaper Make a Comeback in Your Small Spaces
It’s counterintuitive, but a small space is actually a great reason for a big, bold wallpaper. Wallpaper designer Elizabeth Ockford agrees.”There’s a bit of a myth that small rooms require plain, light wall coverings. (If you) choose a medium or large-repeat pattern that will add a sense of depth that did not exist before. This will ensure your room appears more expansive and rooms feel more spacious.” So consider wallpapering your downstairs half bath, a small den or a study. And go bold or go home.

An Accent Wall is a Great Place For Bold Wallpaper to Make a Comeback
If you’re not ready to commit to a big, bold pattern on the four walls of your home, how about wallpapering just one? Wallpaper is a great way to create an accent wall in your dining room to set off your sideboard. Or perhaps wallpaper the wall behind your bed in the bedroom. The wallpapered wall becomes the focal point for the room, drawing the eye to its interest.
And Consider Wallpaper in Unconventional Places
If the idea of this big, bold pattern scares you a little too much, consider wallpapering something that is not a wall at all. What do I mean by that? Well, how about wallpapering the inside of a chest of drawers – not just lining the drawers but applying the wallpaper to the drawer sides so it’s seen when you pull out the drawers. Wallpaper your walk-in closet for a fun start to each and every day. Wallpaper your stair risers for bold pattern with each step. Or go big and bold above and wallpaper the ceiling. Wallpapering is a commitment of some time and resources, but when you tire of it it’s easy enough to remove and follow the next trend that interests you.
