So many of my readers and customers have been asking me. So today I’m coming clean. And sharing with you some quick links to my favorite Amazon products. These are the things I use most, at both the store and at home, all in one place. And I can’t believe I’m writing this part, because it seems oh-so-techy, but we’ve also created a QR code at Consignments Ltd. that you can scan for the links the next time you’re in the store. My kids would be so proud of their Mom. First, that I could figure this out and second that I actually even know what a QR code is! So here’s the skinny on what I like and use…
My Favorite Amazon Products For Cleaning
Cleaning? Who likes it? Ever? But I have discovered a few products that are really worth their weight in cleaning gold.
1. Weiman Silver Wipes
I have talked about before. For anything silver, from jewelry to flatware, tea sets to trays, these wipes make light work of tarnish removal.
2. SprayWay Glass Cleaner
Got glass? and mirrors? Get SprayWay Glass Cleaner. We use it constantly at Consignments Ltd. to clean glass tops, framed glass over art and mirrors. It’s inexpensive and it works.
3. Barkeepers Friend
Barkeepers Friend is brought to you by Bruce. It’s his go-to cleaner for the sink, the shower, pots and pans and even the glass cook top. It’s non-abrasive and it works!
My Favorite Amazon Products For Cooking
1. Le Creuset Dutch Oven
I use my Le Creuset Dutch Oven more often than any other thing in my kitchen besides the coffee maker. I make everything from French onion soup to Coq Au Vin in this puppy. It goes from cooktop to oven and back and holds heat like nothing else I own kitchen-wise.
2. Corn-on-The-Cob Planer/Peeler
Bruce’s favorite vegetable is corn. He famously ate an entire bowl, meant for the whole family, on one Thanksgiving. So when corn-on-the-cob is in season, he’s all about it. In order to enjoy it, I need to take it off the cob. What a mess! Enter the Corn-on-The-Cob Planer/Peeler! It makes light work of removing corn from the cob and then we both are happy.
3. Mo Salt and Pepper Grinder Set
I am not really sure why I didn’t own this set earlier. On a recent trip, the hotel had an amazing breakfast buffet. And on every table they had grind-able salt and pepper. What a taste difference. As soon as we landed I ordered the Less Mo Salt and Pepper Grinder Set and we haven’t looked back. You can adjust the size of the grind too. So worth the tiny price.
My Favorite Amazon Products For Travel
1. Zulu Water Bottles
You can’t go through security with a bottle of water, but you CAN go through with a bottle for water. Zulu Water Bottles are my go-to because the bottom comes off. Yes, you read that right. Why is this good? Well I wouldn’t call myself a cleaning freak, but I’m definitely close. So whilst traveling it’s so great to be able to take off the bottom of this water bottle and run a cloth through it. It’s also all metal, so the water stays cool and it can take a lot of abuse.
2. Briggs and Riley Suitcase
Until I met Bruce I always bought the cheapest, wheeled suitcase I could find. And then one day, on a visit to see my daughter Charlotte in New York, the elevator broke in the subway. I had to drag my heavy bag up two flights of stairs and in the process I smashed it beyond further use. Enter Bruce’s Briggs and Riley Suitcase. Yes, it’s more expensive than the bags I bought previously, but, it has a great feature. And it’s a big one! The well-constructed, Briggs and Riley bag is warrantied for LIFE. No questions asked. They will repair or replace it forever. Subway stairs notwithstanding. Enough said.
3. Neutrogena Make-Up Remove Wipes
A 10 hour flight is not for sissies. You almost feel like you’ll never be clean or rested again. Although they don’t completely erase the fatigue and travel grime, Neutrogena Make-Up Remove Wipes (Individually Wrapped) can sure start to wipe away some of the yuck. I keep them in my travel bag, but I also pack them in with my toiletries. They remove make-up, including waterproof mascara. They also remove an assortment of stains from your clothing for those mishaps that almost always happen.
And Best Products For Home
1. Biscaynebay Wrap-Around Bed Skirt
One of the seven circles of hell (besides the cell phone store) is trying to put a dust ruffle on your bed. It rips. It wrinkles and it hangs unevenly. Well, get a load of the Biscaynebay Wrap-Around Bed Skirt. Bruce and I have bought this product multiple times because it is easy to place and looks great. It elasticizes around your boxspring rather than fitting under the mattress. This makes install a breeze and limits tears and wrinkles.
2. Weekender Gel Memory Foam Pillow
After my friends and family sleep in our guest room, they buy the same pillows we have on the bed. That says everything! The Weekender Gel Memory Foam Pillow is supportive and promotes restful sleep. Charlotte literally ordered them from my house for hers the last time she was here. Once you have these you will never like another pillow.
3. Better Vent Ductless Dryer Vent
We have a stacked washer and dryer in our bathroom. If we were to run a traditional duct it would be way too long and unsafe. We tried and got quotes. Firefighters came and made frowny faces. After a bunch of research, we bought the Better Vent Ductless Dryer Vent. It has a changeable filter and good safety features. It can work in all types of situations, including in older homes, where running duct work is harder.
I hope you like my list of products and find the links easy to use. In the coming weeks I will publish another blog with recommendations for cosmetics, beauty products and fashion items that I like. And I’ll only ever share items that I’ve tried and that I use regularly at the store and at home. If you have things you’d like to recommend, just drop me a line on email.
And Now For A Little Music Before We Go…
Have a lovely day, my friends. Marianne
