#1 Gift Basket Item at Thrift and Consignment Shops: Candles, Candles and More Candles
Whether you’re making a spa basket, a host/hostess gift basket or a seasonal basket, candles are a great get at thrift and consignment shops. Jar candles are sooo expensive. One Yankee jar can set you back $35! Consignment and thriift stores usually sell these brand new and for a lot less. Add them to a basket with a loofah and some bubble bath. Or include them with some cocktail napkins and a set of chesses knives. At the holidays, create a basket with a candle, a homemade bread and perhaps some festive dessert plates. Everything, except that bread, can be found at thrift and consignment shops along with the candles.

Puzzles and Games, New In The Box Are Readily Available
A lady at my church asked me to do a “Family Game Night” basket for the annual bazar raffle last year. I found two brand new puzzles at my own store and two new games at another local thrift spot. I added a deck of Uno Cards and a chess set from Amazon and I was done. You can often find new toys and games, for gift baskets at thrift and consignment stores. And you’ll discover things for kids of all ages.

Bar Paraphernalia Makes Great Gift Basket Items at Thrift and Consignment Shops
The wine gift basket is usually one of the most popular items at a silent auction, unless of course there’s a booze basket. LOL While you won’t be able to buy the iquor at thrift or consignment shops, you surely can score the rest. Wine glasses, bottle openers, coasters, cocktail shakers, shot glasses, you name it, they have it. It will definitely even out the cost of the alcohol.

Maybe it’s a basket for a baker friend? Then you can buy rolling pins, cookie cutters and cake pans. If you’re pulling together a basket for a chef, then maybe you find a gently used enamel or cast iron pan and fill it with ingredients? King of the grill? Get some outdoor oven mits, a new-in-the-package meat thermometer and a great spatula. It’s easy to fill a cook’s basket with items from thrift and consignment.
