Whether you have a small entryway or a grand foyer (pronounced foy-yay, if we’re really getting fancy), you want it to look good for yourself and for your guests. So perhaps you’re considering painting your entryway? There are a lot of reasons to say yes to this project.

First Impressions

As the old adage goes, “You never get a second chance to make a fist impression.” This is definitely the case with your entryway. A foyer or entryway sets the tone for the whole house. It tells people what they can expect, both from a color palette perspective and from a decorating style. And if you pay attention to this space it subtly tells your guests that you take care of things. That your home matters to you and therefor their presence matters to you too.

Painting The Entryway is Inexpensive Relative To Other Rooms

Most entryways and foyers are small relative to other rooms in the house (unless you have that foy-yay type we talked about earlier). What that means when it comes to painting your entryway is that the cost and effort will both be less than a lot of other, bigger rooms in your house. You’ll use less paint and it will take less time. And that first impression thing will pay even bigger benefits, relatively speaking.

Painting The Entryway Makes It Seem Bigger and Brighter

My small entryway has no windows. The sidelights and glass panels at the top of the door are an Art Deco stained glass pattern, so they don’t let much light in either. Painting the foyer makes it seem both bigger and brighter than it actually is. And nothing says welcome quite like that.
