If you use Instagram or Pinterest, you may have seen ads and testimonials for USB charged lighting, like scones, table lamps and picture lights. Perhaps you’ve considered them but are hesitant to try. Well, fear not. I’ve tried all three types of these lights with no wiring needed. They can add ease and ambience to your home. You can have light in places that you never imagined. Check them out. You’ll be glad you did.

Picture Lights With No Wiring Needed – They’ll Make Your Art Shine, Literally
I installed a light the other day. Actually, I installed two. And no, I have not become a Master Electrician overnight. I installed two, USB picture lights over paintings in my dining room. It’s was so easy. The whole project cost me under $40! My paintings are now bathed in a soft glow. And features on the picture lights allow me to choose both brightness levels and tone of light.
To install these, I found a spot 6″ above the frame of the piece of art (this is industry standard). I drew a line with my level. The lights come with a metal plate for mounting, so I marked the screw holes, drilled two holes, inserted the wall anchors and screwed in the plate. The light, after charging with the included USB cable, just slips right on the mounting plate. This also makes it easy to take down and re-charge when needed. And best of all, these lights work with a remote control. Yatzee!

USB Table Lights with No Wiring Needed
Bruce and I first saw these USB outdoor table lamps at a restaurant when we were traveling abroad. We were seated at a lovely, outdoor table and as it started to get darker, the waiter brought one over, tapped the top and Voila! a soft glow illuminated our table. I was obsessed with owning some for our patio upon returning home. At first these lamps were kind of pricey. Now you can score a pair on Amazon for less than $25. And they come in a bunch of colors. I have used them both indoors and outdoors. In fact, I recently placed a pair in my upstairs hallway, when my mother-in-law was visiting, as extra lighting for safety. They held a charge all night long for multiple nights.
These lights now come in a lot of different sizes and shapes. You can tuck one on the kitchen counter as a night light. Or place one in a bookcase for an extra glow on something treasured.

USB Sconces Are A Show-Stopper
The pictures of the USB sconces above are the before and after at the mantel in my living room. Before, there was very little light on this whole wall of the room. The after shows my living room mantel that now has a lovely, sophistacated glow, highlighting one of my favorite pices of art. These USB sconces were a little more difficult to install than the picture lights. I had to measure more precisely to make sure they were even right to left. They were well worth the effort, however. And the cost was reasonable at $56 for the pair. Obviously great over a mantel, but these USB sconces also work well over a sideboard, among the shelves of a bookcase or even above your soaking tub. Again, they operate by remote control for instant ambience.
