Thrift Entertaining Essentials: Cocktail Glasses
Guess what, ladies and gentleman, glass breaks. I know. You’re shocked at that revelation, but it’s true. We must replace our glassware on occasion just because of this fact. We also replace glassware as certain drinks go in and out of taste or fashion. Right now, at Consignments Ltd. we can’t keep coupe glasses in the store, because they’re a cocktail favorite of the moment and all over social media. So before you go to those big box stores to buy copper Moscow Mule mugs or crystal flutes for Prosecco, check your local thrift or consignment store. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Stacks of plates Are A Best Buy on Consignment
If appetizers are on the menu, you’re going to need app plates. This is an area where I very often like to change it up. I buy different stacks of app plates in fun colors and patterns. Bruce and I love turtles, so for Katie and David it’s going to be the sea turtle app plates that I found at my local thrift store. I have small stacks in blue. turquoise and American pattern glass. And you guessed it, I have thrifted them all. So check out your local shop and you can change it up for entertaining essentials too.
Trays and Bowls Are Also Great Scores
Trays! My Gosh, who doesn’t love a good tray. In fact, I’ve waxed on about their versatility repeatedly. (Check out: Using Trays In Interior Design for more on this.) When entertaining, trays are an essential. Group apps or dips, crackers or chips on a great tray. Literally, trays help you get the party to where the party is happening. And cute little bowls are a wonderful way to jazz up your table scape while also proving a way to serve the deliciousness. Thrift and consignment stores are loaded with all kinds of serving bowls. Consider snagging bowls on a color theme or ones with similar designs. Your table will look great and your friends will love it.
