They’re going back! Or going for the first time. Just when you were getting used to summer speed and summer activities (or lack thereof) it’s all about to change. AGAIN. A few strategies can keep you sane and actually make surviving back to school enjoyable. Just consider…

Surviving Back to School For Younger kids:
There are a few easy tricks to surviving back to school. All it takes is a little organiztion, and maybe a few proucts to help you out. Back to school is easier with young kids when you:
- Establish Designated Drop Zones: for homework, coats, shoes etc.
- Stick to A Bedtime Schedule: for less cranky kids when the bus is on the way.
- Make Lunches The Night Before: and save yourself the morning mania.
- Make 5-6 Outfits on Sunday Night or At Least One the Night Before: It makes getting ready so much simpler.
- Get You Car Organized: with wet wipes, snacks, water bottles and a first aid kit for all the before and after school activities.

There are few products that can help with these tips like:
- Car Organizer for water and snacks.
- Lunch Box Containers to reuse instead of all those plastic bags.
- Closet Outfit Organizer for that Sunday night discipline.
- First Aid Kit. I mean, who doesn’t need one of those in their car?
And rectangular baskets, that are regularly available at thrift and consignment shops, like Consignments Ltd., make great drop spots for homework and notes from school. Get one for each kid and reward them for using them at the end of each month.

Surviving Back to School For Older Kids
The older kids are a little slipperier when it comes to back to school, but certain disciplines can help make it easier with them as well.
- Schedule Regular Dinners Together: it’s the glue that keeps families functioning well.
- No Cell Phones at The Table: During those regular dinners, make it device-free to keep conversation open for what’s going on at school, what homework is coming up, etc.
- Make Lunches The Night Before or set up their lunch card to auto refill.
- Create A Family Calendar: You can do this the old-fashioned, with a big, old paper calendar, dry erase calendar or create a family calendar that’s shared with everyone on an app, like Google Calendar or Cozi Family Organizer.
