With the forecast that I’m looking at right now on the weather app on my phone, it’s hard to believe that Spring will ever come. But come, it will. And if you’re as completely sick of this winter as I am, you may think about rushing it. Consider a refresh of your decor for Spring before it actually arrives on the calendar. Try these tips for starters…

Refresh Your Decor For Spring with Fresh Flowers
For an instant Spring refresh, bring potted bulbs into your kitchen and living room. These cheery tulips, daffodils and hyacinths add a pop of color and sometimes scent to your space. The best part of using bulbs is that when they fade you can save the bulbs and plant them in your garden. You’ll see them again next Spring, this time outside instead.
Fresh flowers are also a great option. Choose a light-colored vase from your collection or pick a new one up at your local consignment shop, like Consignments Ltd.

Refresh Your Decor For Spring with a Change To Your Coffee Table Decor
Remove that dark wood tray and winter-scented candle you placed on your coffee table this Fall. Replace it with a fresh stack of gardening or other coffee table books. Add a Spring-scented candle and a real or faux potted plant. Then grab a bowl or cache pot in white or any of the spring tones, to house your remotes and voila!

Make a Change To Your Kitchen or Dining Room Table Centerpiece
Maybe you have some metal (gold or silver) candlesticks and a ceramic bowl with pine cones? Perhaps a dark fabric runner is placed down the table’s center? Whatever you put down this Fall or Winter is now visually heavy. Switch to to glass sticks and a glass vase. Or try cream-tone accessories or pastels. If you’re using a table runner, try one that is light in color or sheer in design. Spring will feel moments away.

Lighten Your Fabrics to Refresh Your Decor For Spring
And speaking of fabrics, like table runners, you can also change your other fabrics to refresh your decor for Spring. Swap heavy drapes for sheers or curtains made of linen. Change out pillow covers to lighter fabrics in neutrals, spring tones or florals. Package up those fleece throws for lighter color (and weight) knits. You can also swap out your heavier, darker-color rugs for lighter tones in materials like sisal and cotton.
It is really that easy to bring a breath of Spring to your home during this last bit of winter. And Spring, it will be here before you know it. For more on decorating, check out my previous blogs like: Tips For Decorating An Old House and Common Decorating Mistakes.
