I don’t know about you, but my pantry cupboard gives me stress sometimes. Things get lost in the shuffle of disorganized shelves. Things spill because of poor packaging. And I buy things that I don’t need because I didn’t know that I already had a back-up. Silly things of life, right? But stress, nonetheless. With a couple of tricks, however, you can organize your pantry and decrease your stress. It’s worth a small amount of your time if you’re up for it?

Buy A Label Maker to Organize Your Pantry and Decrease Your Stress
Whether it’ s a traditional cupboard, one with pull out trays or a full-scale, walk-in pantry, keeping like-things together is a good idea. And what better way to make sure that happens than to label your shelves with a label maker. This way anyone who helps put away the grogeries places them where they go. No more buying a 5th bottle of barbeque sauce because you didn’t know you had the other four! Yay! And when you’re rushing to make dinner, finding that can of diced tomatoes is a snap. Double yay!

Containerize Partially Used Items and Keep Them In The Front
I spilled an open bag of flax seeds inside the drawer of my pantry. The only thing that could have been worse, spill-wise, is probably coffee. It was a mess – a big, hard-to-clean-up, hot mess. The flax seeds now live in a reusable, dispenser bottle that I bought at Consignments Ltd. No more mess. Bruce is very happy. After this spill and the subsequent clean-up, I try to containerize all partially-used foodstuffs. I found a great set of glass containers to do this. You can see what you have and they stay fresh. I also put any partially used items towards the front of their designated (and labeled) area/shelf, so I know to use them first before opening another. Money saved. Stress reduced.

Keep A Grocery List on Your Smart Home Device To Organize Your Pantry and Decrease Stress
At our house, Alexa keeps the grocery list. This way we can talk to our Echo Dot in the kitchen and say, “Alexa, add peanut butter to the grocery.” But better still, if I’m at work and think of something we need, I can open the Alexa App on my phone and add it there. When I’m in the supermarket, I open my phone and buy what I’ve put on the list. And I can check off the items on my phone as I place them in my cart. It’s a life-enhancing, stress-reducing tool.

Purge The Pantry Every Few Months
Purging can be very satisfying, whether it’s a bad habit or clothes you no longer wear. The same is true for your pantry. Set a time or day to purge your pantry every so often and seriously reduce your pantry stress. Maybe it’s the evening before your trash goes out at the begining of the month? Or perhaps it’s the start of each of the four seasons? My friend always does it before Passover. Whatever works or makes sense to you is good enough as long as you do it.This purge keeps your pantry organized and eliminates gross, stale and expired items from messing up your home. It’s a good way to organize your pantry and decrease your stress.
And Now For A Little Music Before We Go…
Have a lovely, stress-free day, my friends. Marianne
