Easter is around the corner! Can you smell the chocolate? I know that I’m excited about all the decorating possibilities in my new space. The first place I will be going is to all my favorite thrift and consignment shops (including the one I’m conveniently in every day of the week, LOL). That’s because the best Easter decor is truly found at thrift and consignment shops. And buying it there means your home will not look like anyone else’s on the block. Just consider…

Baskets Are Some of The Best Easter Decor to Score From Thrift and Consignment

Who wants to spend $15-20 on an Easter basket and THEN have to fill it? Not me. Bruce loves candy way too much. All my budget dollars are going to that category. Instead, I’ll thrift an Easter basket for just a few dollars and concentrate the rest of my budget on Peeps, chocolate eggs and jelly beans. Thrift and consignment store are most often rife with reasonably priced baskets. You may even be able to snag some vintage ones if you beat me there.

Bunnies, Bunnies and More Bunnies

It’s not Easter without the Easter Bunny, right? And thrift and consignment shops are a great place to find bunnies of all shapes and sizes. Gather them in the center of your dining room table or place a few on your mantel. Your home will immediately start feeling like Easter. I found a mercury glass bunny with a basket on his back at a local shop for $6. I filled the basket with raffia carrots from the dollar store ($1.25) and perched him on my sideboard. He looks awesome and my home is starting to look more festive already. Not bad for $7.25 plus tax!

Planters and Vases For Spring Flowers Give The Easter Feel Well-Beyond The Holiday

Stores like Consignments Ltd. are great resources for planters and vases throughout the year. (You can see my previous blog about thrifting gardening supplies for more on this.) You can find planters in bright, spring colors or in floral themes. Fill them with potted tulips and daffodils. When they fade you can plant them in your yard for Easter next year. Or thrift a large, brightly-colored vase for some pussy willow branches. Milk glass (white, opaque glass) is always available at thrift and consignment stores. This also makes a great base for all kinds of colorful Easter decor, like eggs and flowers. Adding these elements will bring Easter in and finding the pieces at thrift or consignment will leave you more cash for candy. It’s a win-win.

Have a lovely Sunday and a happy Easter, my friends. Marianne
